Mission Statement

Slogan, vision statement .. and everything between

"HAVE FUN TODAY IN CARING FOR OUR TOMORROWS"

If you know my Instagram account, you know that the having fun part is at its core. I want to make the world a better place, and I want to enjoy doing it.

For it to ADD to my life not subtract.

Sustainability has to be sustainable, and a smile can do that.

But I want to talk about that last word in the statement: tomorrowS
Yep, it is plural. It isn't a typo.

I made it plural to recognise that we all have our own dreams and that they are all different
I made it plural to recognise that we need to care for everyone's future, not just our own.

So when I say I pick up trash to give my kids a future, I am also saying I want to give your kids a future too.

Not just my tomorrow, or your tomorrow, but our tomorrows.

POSITIVE INSPIRATION ONLY

To have a future we need to make changes

Governments need to bring in new legislation.

Companies need to change practices.

But for me, the biggest change needs to come from people.

They can change governments with their voting powers.

They can influence companies with their spending habits.

When the EU banned plastic cutlery, I slowly stopped seeing plastic forks on the ground.

But instead, I now find bamboo forks as litter.

How can we have a future for our children, when people just throw forks on the ground (regardless of material)?

But I don't like to use a stick to get a donkey to move, I want to use a carrot.

I don't want to punish, I want to inspire.

I don't want to moan about problems, I want to show positive solutions.

I can't change the fact that there is trash on the ground, but I can try and inspire people to not put new trash on the ground.

And most importantly, I can take action today by bending down and picking up a piece of trash.

There is so much heartache and depressing news on the TV and in the papers at the moment. I want to bring a positive story to people.. DAILY!

I feel that we need that.

I know I need that.

So, let's have fun today and tell a positive story, about the impact that is in our power to make without dependency on anyone else.

Slogan

"PICK UP TRASH
HAVE FUN"

I originally used this phrase for the first time when making the PlogX shirts (my monthly cleanup)

It just struck a chord with me.

When you see me plogging I will often have a huge grin on my face

I just get huge pleasure out of this, because I am focused on the positive action I am making.

When I look behind me and see a clean path I think "I did that!" and that brings a grin to my face.

And that is key. When it is fun, you do it again.

But more importantly, yes I want to let my kids have a future, but I wanna enjoy doing it!!

Reduce is a word used for sustainability - but it doesn't mean we need to reduce pleasure. In fact the opposite - I am having fun, making an impact and then, not spending any money doing it!!

And there's more..

Seriously, I think I should have been a writer for Hallmark!

But each one of these phrases and slogans comes from the heart

Did I make these up myself, or did I steal them?

I don't recall stealing them, but if you know of anyone using them before me, then please tell me as I would love to credit them if it turns out I did. Basically we are influenced by so much without realising it, that it is hard to tell.. but one thing is for sure.. they touch me to the heart

"When you make sustainability fun,

it becomes sustainable."

"When you pick up a piece of trash

it makes an impact,

but when someone sees you doing it,

it can make a difference."

"When you pick up a piece of trash on a run,

it suddenly turns that run into

something not just good for you,

but good for us, and good for the planet."

"A person picking up 1000 pieces of

trash is amazing. It is fantastic.

But I would rather have 1000 people

picking up one piece of trash."

"Picking up a piece of trash

creates a positive story.

Let's fill the world with positive stories.

The world needs them"
