ENJOY THE RACE, CARE FOR THE COURSE. This is the first of seven races we’ll be focusing on. Yes, I picked up a lot of gels. Yes, I saw litter on the ground. But honestly: it was less than in other years. We’re moving in the right direction. And if we work together, we can set the right example for the rest of the world. On October 19th, 2025, I ran the 50th anniversary edition of the Amsterdam Marathon — but not just to race. I ran with a mission. This year, I teamed up with the race organisers, Le Champion, for a unique collaboration (#AD) aimed at encouraging runners to dispose of their gels, cups, and sponges responsibly. Instead of dropping waste on the course, runners could use the designated bins — or even the giant paper cup mounted on my back.
